Best story I’ve read all day. What I love most about it is that she co-opts the logic of states that allow gay marriage but also respect the rights of specific churches that don’t want to perform same-sex unions. By that logic, NO OFFICIAL should be forced to perform marriage ceremonies if the act violates their own personal set of ethics. I hope Parker starts a trend. I’d love...

WatchWatch
Gays are some of the most loyal fans on the planet.  Last night, I went to a few bars in West Hollywood, which, for the evening, had been transformed into WhitneyWood.  Queens belted out all of Ms. Houston’s greatest hits.  Even the strippers had a moment of silence.  Well, not silence.  A moment of suspended gyration?  The gay community is drawn to divas with drug habits. I think gay men...

To Have or to Eat (Cake)
Here’s my problem with the MIA “f#ck you”: You can’t go all anti-establishment (e.g., flipping the bird) while playing the halftime show at the Super Bowl, and also expect to be seen as consistent.  As Neal Brennan tweeted, “You know what would have been REALLY rebellious? Not performing in the fucking Super Bowl halftime TV show.”

No Need to Nix Nixon
In response to my last entry, somebody at the Born This Way blog wrote: You just spent a lot of time saying “Cynthia Nixon is bisexual” - which is all she should have said in the first place. Just sayin’….” First, I have no idea how this person left a comment. I didn’t even think you could leave comments on Tumblr. Second, the commenter’s well-intended response has incited me...

Cynthia Nixon
The backlash against Cynthia Nixon is ridiculous. If anything, her take on sexual identity is far more critical and complex than the theories of biological determinism that incite her opponents to castigate her. “Born this Way” is a sham. Could I be happy and straight? No. Am I sexually attracted to women, even in the slightest? No. Do I believe Nixon’s bisexual and currently...

White-Collar Thieves
If you have Time Warner cable, I recommend reviewing your bill each time it comes in.  For the past 7 months, they’ve been charging me for TWC Movie Pass, a slate of movie stations I don’t watch, and, WORSE, NEVER REQUESTED.  In other words, they will add packages to your bill without your consent.  The customer service representative first told me that he’d only credit me for...

Men of 2012, Take Note
Things that Turn Me On Men who call.  Texting is great but CALLING is the new, “I checked this box because I LIKE you.”  A guy who looks like he may beat me up.  But wait! He’s gay! In theoretical terms, this is called homonormativity.  Guys who call jail the “clink” and refer to beer as “suds.” Men who pay for dinner.  Just keepin’ it real.  Not...

The Only Thing I Want to Tell You is My Order
One of the few things I hate about eating at Mendocino Farms is that they needlessly ask for my name when I order.  I say “needlessly” because they distribute buzzers when customers place an order and the buzzer is how diners pick up their food.  Each time I go to MF, my name is always a topic of conversation.  They always make a big to-do out of the spelling, like, “Where does...
